ROME & DOLCE VITA

Rome · Rome | 6 Days · 5 Nights

DAY 1
Rome
Welcome to Rome! Independent arrival in hotel. Overnight stay in Rome.

DAY 2
Rome
After a rich breakfast at the hotel you will meet your driver who will take you to the meeting point with your local foodie guide. You will enjoy a lovely walking tour through local food markets, grocery stores and gelato shops in the areas of Campo De’ Fiori, Trastevere, and
the Jewish Ghetto. We know that walking makes one hungry, that’s why we thought you’d appreciate some pit-stops! You’ll enjoy a slice of freshly baked crispy “Pizza Bianca” (Rome’s own version of focaccia) cut in half horizontally and filled with thin slices of freshly cut “mortadella”: a traditional, more-Roman-than-the-Colosseum easy snack that locals love. And what about trying a “Supplì”? This little ball of deep-fried tomato sauce risotto with a heart of melted mozzarella cheese is everyone’s favorite street food. Pasta will be on the
list too, along with some dishes from the Roman Jewish tradition: “Carciofo alla Giudìa”, a deep-fried artichoke that looks like a tiny sunflower, as well as “Filetto di Baccalà”, a battered and deep-fried fleshy cod fillet. Save some space for dessert, because we won’t skip our portion of artisan “Gelato”! At the end of this experience, meet your driver to head to Vatican area, ready to join a super-agile group max 10 people. Meet your professional guide and take a tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St.Peter’s Square, skipping
all lines! You will be able to admire some of the most impressive Renaissance art pieces: the unique Gallery of Tapestries, the lavish Gallery of Maps, the stunning Raphael’s Rooms and the world-famous Sistine Chapel. The tour couldn’t be complete without St. Peter’s Square the open space which lies before the basilica, redesigned by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and being itself an architectural masterpiece of the Baroque age.
You’ll admire St. Peter’s Basilica(outside) that isn’t only the largest church in the world, but that contains several pieces of fine art: think the canopy designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini or the Pietà by Michelangelo. At the end of the tour, time at your leisure to discover hidden corners of Rome. Overnight stay.

DAY 3
Rome · Naples · Pompeii · Sorrento
See Southern Italy highlights on your Minitour from Rome. Your journey begins heading south along the so-called Sun Highway, crossing the fertile Roman countryside and the area known as Castelli Romani, dotted with enchanting medieval villages and arriving in Naples, one of the largest and well-known cities in Italy. Short panoramic tour climbing up to Vomero hill to enjoy beautiful views over the Gulf of Naples with the Vesuvius, Capri, Ischia and Procida and the city below; time to take some nice pictures. Descending towards the port of Mergellina, you will leave the city and travel south towards Mount Vesuvius and, once you reach the town of Pompeii, you will have lunch with the real Neapolitan pizza! After lunch, you will enter into one of the most important archaeological sites in the world: a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruins of Pompeii, with Skip the Line entrance and a guided tour. Visit the haunting ruins of Pompeii, traveling back in time to the tragic days in 79 AD when the silent Mount Vesuvius suddenly erupted, covering the prosperous Roman city in deadly volcanic ashes and poisonous gases, leaving this prosperous city crystallized until our days. You'll learn how people lived at that time, visiting houses and “bars” of the time, admiring frescoes and mosaics to imagine how rich and prosperous was the city before the dreadful day. After the visit, you will drive along the Sorrentine Coast, arriving in Sorrento for dinner (dress code: jacket for men) and an overnight in your new hotel.

DAY 4
Sorrento · Capri · Sorrento
After breakfast you’ll be embarked to Capri island. Depending on weather conditions, you’ll take a boat ride to the popular and dreamy “Grotta Azzurra” (Blue Grotto), where sunlight passes into an underwater cavity and shines through the seawater, creating a magical blue
reflection. After returning to the port you’ll board on a minibus for a scenic drive to Anacapri, 918 feet (280 meters) above the sea level. . You’ll see wonderful views of the bay of Naples free time for lunch (lunch not included). After you can take advantage of some free time to explore Capri at your leisure or to go shopping. Then you’ll return to Marina Grande back to the mainland to return to Sorrento for dinner and overnight stay.
